Communication is not only a skill: it is, first and foremost, an activity deeply rooted in our social nature. We all communicate and send messages in many ways: through our bodies, words, actions and works.

This program will explore all different aspects that are involved in the multifaceted process of communication, providing the basis for improving personal awareness of how to communicate more self-confidently, consistently and effectively.

The program includes 16 hours of face-to-face lectures. Attendance is mandatory for the entire duration of the program, and attendees will take a final test at the end of classes.

Contents:

A first look at human semiosis ranging from signs, codes, body language, spoken, to written and visual communication
Information vs. communication: the crucial role of listening, questioning and interpretation
Discovering the voice, one of the most powerful means of expression
Written communication: different types of texts for different purposes
How to write effectively: from selecting sources to creating a coherent, cohesive, well-argued and impactful text
Principles of visual communication and multimedia integration
Social media presence: elements for conscious use.
