Who we are
Porta Futuro Lazio
Porta Futuro Lazio is a free public project of the Lazio Region, created in collaboration with universities, which offers everyone in the region the opportunity to grow professionally, through guidance and training services, so they can best position themselves on the job market. There are currently 11 locations, spread out across the region, so residents and companies can more easily use the innovative and completely free services meant to increase employability that are offered in the "PFL" model.
The first site was built in 2011, by the Province of Rome, in the Testaccio neighbourhood.
Given its success (recognised even by the EU, which included the model as a community best practice), the Lazio Region activated the PFL project to make the services that empower companies and residents available to all people across the region, thus progressively creating the locations that offer guidance, training and matching services between the professional opportunities on offer and residents who have the skills sought by companies.
Residents who come to the PFL offices are told about all the services available, and an initial analysis is done of their needs, exploring motivations and professional goals. Users are then assisted in their personalised use of the services, be it training or guidance, including by receiving credentials to use the Porta Futuro Lazio software, via which they can create a CV and send it, along with a cover letter, to companies looking for jobseekers in the database.
PFL offers companies guidance in the creation their own virtual profile where they can insert job or training opportunities and identify the professional profiles that best respond to the company's needs. It is also possible to take advantage of in-person meeting services at the various locations to meet job-seekers by hosting Recruitment Days, Career Days and Employer Branding events.
PFL facilitates the dissemination to all residents of professional growth opportunities, including via technology: there is a web portal and software to increase employability, which also includes services that can be used online. Furthermore, residents can stay up to date on available opportunities by visiting Porta Futuro Lazio’s pages on the social media platforms Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The Porta Futuro Lazio model, active in the Lazio Region, has been identified as a national best practice by the Department of Public Administration which, through the project “Giovani in Rete: la PA al servizio di una nuova occupabilità” [Young People Online: the PA at the service of a new employability], urged the regions of southern Italy to adopt the service. The Municipality of Bari heeded the call: the experience and the tools were shared, and Porta Futuro Bari was born in the summer of 2015.
